Meet Jaffa!
Jaffa is a most extraordinary kangaroo. My bond with her is unique to any animal I have (or will ever have) in care. The joy and heartbreaks we have shared with each other over the years has created an inseparable bond. Even now, long after she was softly released into the wild, she returns daily to check on me and the babies I have in care.
Meet Millie
After a night of shooting that wiped out her entire family, Millie found herself utterly alone. At just 2 kilograms, she should have been curled up in the safety of her Mumma’s pouch, suckling on her teat, drinking warm milk, and feeling protected from the harsh realities of the world. Instead, she was left to face those harsh realities head-on.
Meet Maisie
"Maisie’s Journey: A heartwarming tale of resilience, motherhood, and joy. This post celebrates Maisie’s remarkable story as a loving Mumma and her enduring connection to home, reminding us of the happiness and love wildlife can bring into our lives, despite the intense heartache as well."
Meet Rosie
The life of a wildlife carer has its moments of joy, but it also has its share of heartbreak. Rosie’s story is a testament to both the beauty and the challenges of this journey, and it’s one that will always stay with me.
Meet Jonti
Where do I even begin with Jonti? She makes my heart sing, and the love I have for her runs so deep. Jonti is more than just a special kangaroo—she’s a reflection of resilience, care, and the extraordinary bond within the mob.
Meet Caree
A Heartwarming Journey with Caree
Caree entered my heart weighing just 1.7 kg, It’s always challenging when little ones of her age come into our lives, for they have already experienced the warmth and love of their real mothers. Their tiny noses have already peeked out of their mothers' pouches, exploring the world and observing their mob move gracefully through the paddocks and bushes of their home.
Meet Mia
“Mia's Journey: A Tale of Resilience and Love”
Mia's journey is a story of resilience and love. She came into care as a tiny, fragile pinkie with severe bruising. Despite initial struggles, including months of battling diarrhea, Mia thrived with the love and dedication of her human Mummy. She grew stronger, became a mother, and brought immense joy to everyone around her. Today, Mia is a happy, thriving wild kangaroo who still enjoys moments of affection and treats from her human Mummy. Her story is a testament to the power of love and determination.

Meet Wattle & Willow
"Nurturing Nature: The Heartwarming Journey of Willow and Wattle"
Red Wattlebirds (Anthochaera carunculata) are remarkable members of the honeyeater family, known for their unique appearance and behaviours. Red Wattlebirds are fascinating birds that contribute significantly to their environment. Their distinctive calls and striking appearance make them a joy to observe in the wild
Meet Jarew (JRoo)
“A Hoppy Journey of Strength and Friendship. “
Today, we are thrilled to introduce you to a remarkable young kangaroo who has captured our hearts here at Amaris Wildlife Sanctuary. Meet Jarew, affectionately known as JRoo—a resilient joey who is making remarkable strides in his journey of growth and healing.
Meet Mimmie
Mimmie's Story: The Importance of Proper Wildlife Care
The plight of Mimmie is a poignant reminder of why it is illegal to keep wildlife for more than 72 hours without proper authorisation. Wildlife, such as magpies, require specialized care and attention that the general public is often not equipped to provide. Prolonged captivity can lead to serious health issues, as seen with Mimmie, and can ultimately hinder their chances of survival in the wild.
Meet Karli
“Karli’s journey to Recovery”
On August 15th, a tiny joey named Karli arrived at Amaris, weighing just 821 grams. Her story began tragically when her mother was killed in a hit and run accident in Munglinup, leaving Karli vulnerable on the side of the road.
Meet Jaxon
Something that should never be allowed to happen… Little Jaxon became a fence hanger. RIP beautiful boy.
Meet Kobi
“Saving Kobi: A Story of Loss and Hope”
Why didn’t you stop? How could you leave a kangaroo with an obvious joey in her pouch on the road? It was on an overtaking lane, so it wouldn’t have been difficult to stop.
To all the subsequent drivers who drove around her, why didn’t you stop and help? A vulnerable joey in Mumma’s pouch has just lost everything that was dear to him.
Meet Rossie
“Rossie affectionately known as Mr. Rossie Boots”
Rossie, my beautiful baby boy, your gentle eyes and pure spirit always reminded me of your dear Mumma Rosie. Now, my heart is broken and shattered beyond words.
